King’s Gift

Jan 11, 1994

The story of King’s Gift dates back to the early 18 th century through its lands. Charles Carroll acquired 60,000 acres in parcels. The land passed through generations of Carrolls eventually subdividing. King’s Gift sits on a parcel of land once part of Doughoregan Manor, a land grant from Lord Baltimore to Charles Carroll in 1711.

Although a new home, King’s Gift is a shining example of architecture which pulls from past history. The main façade is flanked by two and three-story high octagonal towers giving the appearance of a medieval castle. Nearly three dozen decorated and landscaped areas are filled with unnumerable ideas, antiques and other interesting ideas for today’s living. Visitors can stroll the walkways, linger amid the statuary garden, waterfalls and lovely landscaped areas.

The show house was held from September 24 to October 23. The chairmen were Pat Fleegle and Virginia Kinney.
